Nirinjan Yee - Founder/CEO
Nirinjan’s background is rooted in somatic-based therapies and cardiopulmonary testing.She founded BreathResearch after recovering from a serious illness in which attention and regulation of her breathing played a major role in her recovery. While working in an integrative medical clinic with patients desiring greater health and wellness as well as those with chronic disease, Nirinjan saw the need for an easy and accessible way to measure and improve breathing. Growing up as a musician, sound became a very intuitive choice as a way to capture, give feedback for and understand breathing patterns. Nirinjan began her research in 2005 and currently leads the BreathResearch team.
Bruce Johnson, Ph.D. - Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Johnson has joint appointments at Mayo Clinic in Preventive, Occupational and Aerospace Medicine as well as in the Department of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering. He is the Director of the Mayo Clinical Research Unit’s Energy Balance Core Laboratory and the Research Director of the Employee Wellness Center. Over the last 20 years Dr. Johnson has developed a world- class laboratory focused on clinical, environmental, occupational and applied physiology. Dr Johnson's research centers on interactions between the heart and the lungs under various conditions, such as hypoxia, high altitude and exercise, and in various populations, including aging populations and those with heart failure and lung disease.
Charalampos Christos Stamatopoulos - Director of Technology
Charalampos (Haris) has Master’s Degrees in Computer Engineering and Informatics, Signal and Image processing systems from (CEID & SIMPS) University of Patras, Greece and a Master’s degree in Sound and Music Computing from the Music Technology Group (MTG), Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona, Spain. In the past, he has researched and designed audio processing algorithms for musically- oriented top-notch products, such as post- production, and synthesis related software. Haris has worked with BreathResearch since 2009 conducting research into audio analysis of breathing sounds and A.I- based breathing pattern analysis and characterization. He has designed and developed the signal analysis framework (Respiratory Acoustic Analyzer), which performs in- depth breath pattern and sound analysis for wellness and health purposes.
